meaningless, meaningless.
i'm feeling preachy today. haha. after reading esther's blog, ecclesiastes remained in my mind: "meaningless, everything is meaningless"
well, that's something i truely and whole-heartedly agree with.
so it got me interested to read the whole of ecclesiastes and i found a few short and nice verses that really encouraged me despite the fact that everything is meaningless (=
Then I realized that it is good and proper for a man to eat and drink, and to find satisfaction in his toilsome labor under the sun during the few days of life God has given him—for this is his lot. Moreover, when God gives any man wealth and possessions, and enables him to enjoy them, to accept his lot and be happy in his work—this is a gift of God. He seldom reflects on the days of his life, because God keeps him occupied with gladness of heart.
--ecclesiastes 5:18-20
Do not be overrighteous,
neither be overwise—
why destroy yourself?
Do not be overwicked,
and do not be a fool—
why die before your time?
It is good to grasp the one
and not let go of the other.
The man who fears God will avoid all extremes .
--ecclesiastes 7:16-18
Be happy, young man, while you are young,
and let your heart give you joy in the days of your youth.
Follow the ways of your heart
and whatever your eyes see,
but know that for all these things
God will bring you to judgment.
So then, banish anxiety from your heart
and cast off the troubles of your body,
for youth and vigor are meaningless.
--ecclesiastes 11:9-10
i think ecclesiastes is really cool. initially, i thought it was a super boring book but i never did expect it to be so poetic and make so much sense. of coz it doesn't make sense literally, but if u think deeper, it makes loads of sense, at least for me. at least now i'm assured that God's words still stand in my life (=
God, He reigns.
